There is a time for everything, and no greater example than the rhythm of the four seasons.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the Tree of Enchantment Collection, Kitras honours the originals—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—with new stories that reflect their beauty and meaning.
When the Trees of Enchantment were first created, storytelling wasn’t the focus it is today. To celebrate this milestone, Sophie Kitras has reimagined each season’s story, exploring how its unique qualities shape individuals and connect us through the shared cycle of nature.
“We are the gardeners of our lives and we tend to our lives like careful gardeners - sowing seeds of hope, plowing new rows ahead with courage, cultivating relationships and having faith that our efforts will reflect our plans. And as trees stretch and the flowers bloom, an awakening unfolds and our gardens and lives begin to reflect all the possibilities of our new starts, that we began in earnest so long ago. The season of Spring is a desire for beauty, warmth and love in our lives and in the world around us. The Tree of Spring shows us that what we start with hope, will blossom and expand with love.”
“We are the gardeners of our lives and we tend to our lives like joyful gardeners - delighting in the shapes, sizes and colours of the flowers, feeling the hum of the insects and being present to life happening all around. And as we soak in the long days and the soft light - we find a way of being in our gardens and lives that allows us to treasure every seed, scent, bloom and friendship for what they are right now, in this moment. The season of Summer is a desire for happiness, intention and connection within our hearts and with those we love. The Tree of Summer shows us that when we are present to the moment, we can open our hearts fully and be content.”
“We are the gardeners of our lives and we tend to our gardens like grateful gardeners - fulfilled in the hard work of the past, sharing in the abundance and contemplating with excitement what will be next. And as we share our time, harvests and gifts with those around us we find a wholeness and sense of belonging that allows us to walk with others in kindness, gratitude and love. The season of Autumn is a desire for abundance, community and a celebration of where we have been, where we are and where we are going. The Tree of Autumn shows us that it is best when our efforts are shared and nurtured in community.”
“We are the gardeners of our lives and we tend to our lives like a peaceful gardener - resting in the quiet, finding warmth in simple pleasures and finding patience in making plans. And as we rest like the flower bulbs buried under the snow, we know that when the time is right, we will burst forth with new energy, passion and light to bring goodness into our friendships and communities. The season of Winter is a desire for reflection, stillness and a deepening of the relationships with those we love and care for. The Tree of Winter shows us that times of rest and introspection bring forth renewal and the knowledge that life’s best warmth comes from cultivating love, friendship and family.”
Use a strong ribbon or fishing line to hang your ornament, as the plastic hang tag isn't durable for long-term use. Check the hanging medium regularly and make adjustments as needed. To clean, gently rub the glass with a damp cloth to restore its brilliance.
Kitras Art Glass is a Canadian company founded in 1988, driven by the belief that unique, sentiment-filled glass art pieces enrich homes, relationships, and communities. As makers and storytellers, they celebrate the wonder of everyday moments and the magic of handmade craftsmanship—where quality, beauty, and unexpected surprises come together.
Now Canada's largest hot glass studio, Kitras creates handcrafted gifts and décor that celebrate life’s beautiful moments. With a talented team in Fergus, Ontario, each piece is designed, crafted, and shipped from their studio to shops, museums, and garden centers across North America.
Kitras continually strives to improve its process, creating art for today while looking toward the future. Their inspiration comes from both the ordinary and the exciting. Through their craft, they’ve built a community of customers who welcome their stories into their homes and lives.
At Kitras Art Glass, the process begins when experienced glassblowers gather molten glass from their 2,000 to 2,200°C (3,632 to 3,992°F) furnace. This honey-like substance serves as the foundation for every piece they create.
Kitras Art Glass is passionate about color, using only the highest quality colored glass. To apply color, the molten glass is rolled through frit (colored glass) patterns, fusing the color into the clear glass. This process creates a vibrant, lasting piece that will never fade.
Skilled glassblowers then shape the glass using various techniques. While each piece follows a specific color recipe, the individual craftsmanship and the fluidity of hot glass make every item unique.
After completion, the piece is carefully cooled at a controlled rate in lehr and annealer boxes. The quality control team inspects each product to ensure it meets the highest standards before it reaches customers. Every piece is crafted to be enjoyed and cherished.
