Micqaela Jones is an enrolled member of the Temoak Tribe of Western Shoshone. She grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Nevada–Idaho border. Her early years were filled with hunting, fishing, and outdoor adventures with her siblings. Raised in a creative home—her father was a painter—she developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for visual storytelling.
Though she didn’t initially plan on becoming an artist, her path shifted after moving with her husband Alex to Santa Cruz, and later to Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. It was in Utah that she began painting seriously, with early support from gallery owner Rod Erwin, who helped launch her career.
Since 2002, Micqaela has exhibited her vivid, colorful works at major markets and museums across the country, including the Santa Fe Indian Market, Eiteljorg Museum, Autry Museum, Red Earth Market, and many more. Her art blends Shoshone cultural roots with contemporary expression, resulting in bold, vibrant paintings that celebrate heritage and imagination.
