About the Artwork

Catherine Rowe is a British illustrator and designer known for her luxurious, nature-inspired aesthetic that blends traditional charm with a contemporary, playful twist. A graduate of the Cambridge School of Art, her career reached a major milestone in 2018 when she won the Liberty Open Call; her winning "Palace Gardens" design became an iconic Liberty fabric the following year. Her unique process primarily utilizes scraperboard to create detailed, etching-like analog drawings, which she then enhances with digital color. Based in her studio in Chichester, West Sussex, Rowe has built a thriving brand—Catherine Rowe Designs—offering a wide range of sustainable homewares and collaborating with global clients such as Anthropologie, The National Trust, and Fable England.
